January 2, 2023Is CBD Good for Performance Enhancement?
May 26, 2023Cannabinoids – Where to start
Question 1: I am a 54 year old man around 220 lbs. and have osteoarthritis in several parts of my body. Do you have a specific recommendation for a dosage of CBD for me? I’ve never taken CBD and am not sure where to start.
Answer: The quick answer is that regardless of body size/weight, age, sex, and the number and severity of imbalances, your ideal dosage can vary considerably. Unlike most medication and supplements, the dosage for CBD and hemp/cannabis products can vary considerably from one person to another. One of the biggest factors/determinants is the density and activity level of the receptor sites for cannabinoids. In other words, a smaller person may need a higher dose of CBD than a larger person if their receptor sites aren’t as active as they could be. We recommend starting at the recommended dosage on the bottle label and trying that for about a week. If you are not satisfied with that level of support, try increasing the dose by about 25-50%. Don’t be afraid to play around with the dose. If you aren’t happy with the results, please read this article that may help shed light on why your CBD product may not be working for you.
One more thing, you might get much better results if, in addition to consuming an oral CBD product, you also use a topical cream over the problem areas. Don’t be afraid to experiment and listen to your body.
Question 2: A friend of mine recommended CBD for eczema on my arms. Should I try topical CBD cream over the problem area or a product meant for internal use?
Answer: We’d recommend using both internal and topical for you. While the problem area is external, and you might get good results with topical application, you’ll get much better, longer lasting results if you also take CBD internally as well. The main reason is that the root of your inflammation is coming from within, likely from your digestive system. In Chinese Medicine, chronic skin irritation issues almost always stem from the gut biome, so if we target the source as well as the area that’s expressing symptoms, then you’ll likely have much better results.
Question 3: I heard CBD products are good for athletic performance and recovery. Is it true and when do I use CBD products for this purpose?
Answer: Yes, it’s true, CBD and other cannabinoids (CBG is great for this too) are very effective for both helping you get to what’s known as “peak state” or “the zone” while exercising (helping you to improve your performance), while also allowing you to recover effectively/efficiently so that you feel less sore and more ready for your next athletic adventure. The best time to take CBD products is either right before or even during exercise. You can read more about this strategy here
Question 4: A friend of mine told me that they take CBD and a micro-dose of psychedelic mushrooms for their anxiety and depression. Do they work well together?
Answer : Both CBD and low dose psychedelic mushrooms are good support for those with anxiety and depression independently of each other, and we believe that the combination of the two can be even more powerful. They support different aspects of the health of the nervous system, so we do think there is potential to have some of the best support for anxiety/depression with these two powerful compounds. And yes, our R&D team is working on it, so that when it is time for complete legality of psychedelic mushrooms, we will have the perfect formulas for you.
